Mike Marotta, Jr. was born in Monterey on September 19, 1951, to Michael and Phyllis Marotta. He grew up in New Monterey and attended San Carlos Elementary School, Junipero Memorial High School, MPC and San Jose State. Mike has two sisters, Judi and Janice, and a brother David.
As a youth Mike enjoyed fishing underneath both wharves, playing baseball and riding motorcycles. At a young age Mike was introduced to the accordion by his Grandfather Arthur and his father. Little did he know then that he would still be playing fifty-five years later. In 1977 Mike married Laurel and together they are proud parents of Kristi, Rachel, and Michael III. They are also the very proud grandparents of Anna Bella, Matteo, Noah and Cecelia.
Mike is the current president of the Pacheco Club, past president of the Old Monterey Business Association, member and past president of the Paisano club, member of the Parks and Recreation Commission for the City of Monterey and has overseen the entertainment for Festa Italia Santa Rosalia for many years.
Today Mike manages real estate and he performs in several musical configurations, including his own band for over forty years. He enjoys golf, hiking with his daughter Rachel and son Michael, biking with his Pacheco Club buddies, and of course playing the accordion.
What makes Mike the happiest is when he is together with his siblings, wife, children, grandchildren, and his father at family gatherings.
